Confirmed to launch in 2025: This is the Honda e:N1, a 500 km range electric variant of the popular HR-V 01

Honda Malaysia previewed an electric version of its popular Honda HR-V at the KL International Motor Show, the Honda e:N1. The model is confirmed to launch in 2025.

The e:N1 offers a 500 km range (NEDC) or 412 km (WLTP), powered by a 68.6 kWh battery and a 204 PS/310 Nm front motor, which enables a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 7.7 seconds.

The e:N1 supports 78 kW DC fast charging and 11 kW AC charging. At 1,662 kg, it is heavier than the hybrid HR-V e:HEV RS variant, which weighs 1,393 kg.

Inside, the e:N1’s interior differs from the HR-V. The gear shift lever (shift-by-wire in the hybrid variant) has been replaced with button-operated controls. The infotainment has been upgraded with a 15.1-inch portrait-format screen, in contrast to the hybrid’s 8-inch landscape display.

A change in the vehicle's floor, specifically the removal of the centre fuel tank to accomodate the floor-mounted battery, also means the the HR-V's signature Ultra Seats is not available on the e:N1.

Flip-up Ultra Seat feature is not available in e:N1

The tailgate design swaps the usual Honda emblem for a stylized wordmark.

The VIN on this particular display unit says the car imported from Thailand (Prachinburi plant), suggesting that Malaysia-bound units next year will also come from there.

In Thailand, the e:N1 is not available for sale. It's a lease-only model, aimed at corporate fleet customers. Honda Malaysia's decision to open up the e:N1 for sale to end users is bold. Prices will only be announced next year.

With the exemption on import tax and excise tax for imported BEVs to expire on 31-December 2025, the Honda e:N1 will most likely be a low volume model.

The regular Melaka-assembled Honda HR-V, which is available with three 1.5-litre engine options – naturally aspirated, turbocharged, hybrid – is priced from RM 115,900 to RM 141,900.

The KL International Motor Show will run from December 5 to 11, at MITEC.
