Another Proton Waja has been reported for attempting to escape the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) in a 30-minute-long car chase. This time the incident happened in Melaka. Unfortunately, the suspect lost control of the car and crashed into a tree, killing the driver in the process.
Harian Metro reports the incident happened at 4 am on Sunday (4 April), the suspect is a 51-year-old.

ACP Afzanizar Ahmad, Police Chief of the Central Melaka district, told the daily that PDRM first came across the suspicious Proton Waja at around 3.30 am on the Alor Gajah-Central Melaka-Jasin Highway (AMJ) in the Tanjung Minyak area.
When PDRM instructed the Waja to stop, the driver had sped off instead. Afzanizar confirmed that the driver sped through several traffic lights in 5 locations with 4 Honda Civic police cars on his tail.
It was when the driver was well on his way to Muar, Johor from AMJ Ayer Molek that he was believed to have lost control before crashing into a tree.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical team on duty. The body has been transferred to the forensics department for further investigation.

Afzanizar also said that they have deployed the K9 unit to the scene where PDRM had seen the suspect throw something out of the car during his escape.
The case will be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Initial investigations also revealed that the suspect has 2 previous criminal records involving robbery and under the Prevention of Crime Act (POCA) 1959.
In the meantime, PDRM is requesting anybody who has information about the suspect to head to the police station or contact the investigating officer at 011-2163 3214.
