Nearly one in every 3 new Lamborghini sold worldwide went to the United States, while Urus contributes 3 out of every 5 new sales closed by Lamborghini globally. The Italian bull marque ended 2022 by setting its highest sales record ever, with 9,233 cars sold worldwide, up 10 percent from the year before.
The USA is Automobili Lamborghini’s most important market, buying 2,721 cars (up 10 percent from 2021), followed by China with 1,018 cars delivered to the mainland, Hong Kong, and Macau (up 9 percent).
Germany is third, with 808 cars (up 14 percent), followed by the United Kingdom’s 650 cars (up 15 percent). Japan rounded up Lamborghini’s top 5 markets with 546 cars (up 22 percent).
While the Americans might buy more Lamborghinis than any other nationalities, it is Asian buyers who contributed the most to 2022’s growth. Buyers in the Far East are Lamborghini’s fastest growing fanbase, growing 14 percent last year, versus North America’s 10 percent and the Middle East’s 7 percent.
Fifty eight percent of all Lamborghinis sold are the Urus – with 5,367 units delivered, up 7 percent from 2021. The Huracan contributed 3,113 units (up 20 percent), while the Aventador, which was discontinued in September 2022, contributed 753 units.
Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, remarked: “Our trend of growth and development continues, and this shows that our direction is sound and our choices are on the mark. This is the product of well-defined collective assessments that can produce consistent and concrete results. We have been able to carefully and meticulously manage an extraordinary order intake, pursuing a clear strategy with the primary objective of maintaining controlled growth to protect the exclusivity of our brand. 2023 is going to be a year of challenges and changes that we are ready to confront by always pushing ourselves beyond. We now have the opportunity to focus on our next objectives also thanks to an 18-month waiting list, which enables us to look to the future and the upcoming goals with confidence.”
