The all-new 2020 Nissan Almera (N18) just made its ASEAN debut with Thailand market had the honour to host the regional premiere.
All-new 2020 Nissan Almera Engine
Sharp styling and abundant features aside, the fourth generation Nissan Almera is now equipped with an advanced HRA0 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and an Xtronic CVT automatic. The turbo mill makes 100 PS and 152 Nm of torque to drive the front wheels.

All-new 2020 Nissan Almera Fuel Tank
While the powertrain and equipment list have improved leaps and bounds, Nissan has curiously shrunk the fuel tank from 41 litres to 35 litres. That about the same size as a Perodua Axia (33 litres)!
However, that doesn't mean that a smaller fuel tank means you need to refuel more often.
All-new 2020 Nissan Almera Fuel Consumption: 4.28L/100km
While Nissan has not disclosed the official 2020 Nissan Almera fuel consumption figures, the 2020 Nissan Almera 1.0L turbo meets the requirements for Thailand EcoCar Phase II which requires cars to return at least 23.3 km/L (4.29L/100km) and emit less than 100g/km of CO2 emissions based on the UNEC 101 test cycle.
Using that requirements multiplied by the fuel tank capacity, the 2020 Nissan Almera 1.0L turbo has a theoretical range of 815.5 km per full tank. Even if we discount that figure by 20%, that's still 652 km of range!
In the outgoing generation Nissan Almera with the 1.5-litre NA and 4-speed automatic, owners have reported averaging 400 to 500 km per tank. The new turbo engine is substantially more fuel-efficient despite a smaller fuel tank.
Based on today's fuel price of RON95 at RM 2.08 per litre, a full tank (30 litres, no one fuels up on a completely empty tank) in the Nissan Almera 1.0L turbo will cost you RM 62.40. More than enough for you to cover from JB to Penang on one single tank.
Conclusion
The all-new 2020 Nissan Almera is scheduled to go on sale in Thailand in the coming months retailing from THB 499,000 (RM 68k) to THB 639,000 (RM 87k).
Malaysians can expect the all-new 2020 Nissan Almera to arrive at local shores soonest in 2020.
