Mazda has just dropped a teaser of the new-generation Mazda BT-50 pick-up truck, which will be making its debut on 17^th June.

The all-new third-generation Mazda BT-50 will be based on the recently-introduced third-generation Isuzu D-Max, a departure from the Ford Ranger-based second-generation model.

As such, the new-generation Mazda BT-50 will be underpinned by the Dynamic Drive Platform, just like the Isuzu D-Max. Apart from being 23% stiffer than the outgoing model, the new platform also features a revised double wishbone front suspension and an updated leaf spring rear suspension.

The new BT-50 is also expected to mirror the D-Max powertrain options, including the 1.9- and 3.0-litre turbodiesel engines.

Safety equipment could also mirror that of the Isuzu D-Max, including Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), electronic stability control, electronic traction control, and up to 6 airbags.

That said, it remains to be seen if the new Mazda BT-50 will feature Mazda’s MZD Connect infotainment system or will it carry over the D-Max’s system.

It is also worth noting that production of the all-new Mazda BT-50 will be shifted from AAT (Auto Alliance Thailand, responsible for the Ford Ranger) to Isuzu’s plant in Samutprakan.

Back in Malaysia, the all-new Mazda BT-50 could be introduced here before the equally-new Isuzu D-Max, as the BT-50 is imported from Thailand, while the D-Max is locally-assembled.
