At the global reveal of the all-new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser 250 (also known as Prado in selected markets), it was hinted that the Land Cruiser brand would thread the company’s multi-pathway strategy towards carbon neutrality, which includes an electric vehicle (EV).
As the presentation neared its closing stage, an image with two SUVs with only the silhouettes visible was shown. One of which appears to resemble the Compact Cruiser EV - with its C-shaped headlight signature - that was part of the array of EV concepts unveiled back in December 2021.
Incorporating elements from the original BJ and FJ Land Cruiser models, the Compact Cruiser EV has a sturdy and upright front end, glasshouse, and black bumpers and fender flares.
The iconic full-width upper grille with C-shaped headlights pays homage to the Land Cruiser 70, while functional design features like the bonnet air intake and skid plate reinforce its off-road capabilities.
The vehicle's side profile showcases a distinctive kinked window line and contrasting C-pillars, where a ladder is mounted on the right side. There’s a sizable roof rack, extending towards the protruding tailgate. The overall aesthetic is completed with angular hollowed-out taillights and two-tone wheels.
Toyota’s Chief Branding Officer, Simon Humphries, said, “Our customers trust in us to keep Land Cruiser relevant and thriving toward the future. This future can be anything from carbon neutral approaches to ensuring the Land Cruiser brand is more affordable and within reach of even more people around the world.”
“Suffice it to say, there are lots of exciting paths to changing the future of cars,” he noted.
The quest for automotive knowledge began as soon as the earliest memories. Various sources information, even questionable ones, have been explored including video games, television, magazines, or even internet forums. Still stuck in that rabbit hole.
