2025 Proton X50 Sport Edition previewed at KLIMS - Wireless charger, exterior and interior bits, coming in 2025

Proton has unveiled the 2025 Proton X50 Sport Edition at the ongoing KL International Motorshow (KLIMS) 2024. This limited-run model introduces a new accessories package designed to enhance the look of the B-segment SUV.

According to Proton, the limited-edition X50 Sport Edition - based on the X50 Premium variant - will be officially launched next year. While pricing and the exact production numbers remain under wraps, this marks the first special edition offered for the X50 since the facelifted model debuted in July 2024.

The 2025 Proton X50 Sport Edition stands out with a bold new body kit, featuring a front splitter, side skirts, and a rear spoiler for a more aggressive look.

Meanwhile "Sport" decals along with a rear bonnet badge, further set it apart. Completing the exterior updates are gloss black 18-inch wheels.

Inside, the Sport Edition brings additional functionality and style with a wireless charger, integrated under the centre console, Sport Edition carpets, aluminium door scuff plates, and a boot tray for more practicality.

It also remains to be seen if the X50 Sport Edition will be offered in other colours besides the sleek black previewed at KLIMS.

Mechanically, the X50 Sport Edition is identical to the standard variants. The Flagship variant continues to feature a 1.5-litre TGDI engine producing 177 PS and 255 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, lower variants are equipped with a 1.5-litre MPI engine delivering 150 PS and 226 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

Higher-spec variants retain Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capabilities, offering features such as adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, and autonomous emergency braking.

The 2024 X50 facelift brought notable improvements in convenience and connectivity, including:

  • Factory-installed power tailgate for Premium and Flagship variants.
  • Revamped 10.3-inch infotainment system with enhanced usability.
  • Upgraded 360-degree camera with a 3D blind-spot monitor for improved safety.
