Another round of price up for Honda CR-V Hybrid in Indonesia, how much more expensive will it get for Malaysia?

The all-new sixth generation 2023 Honda CR-V was launched in Indonesia earlier in August. Two variants are offered – the 7-seater 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo and the 5-seater 2.0-litre e:HEV RS full-hybrid.

The starting price has also gone up by quite a fair bit. With a starting price of IDR 739.9 million (~RM 224k) for the entry VTEC Turbo variant, like for like, the new generation model is now 11 percent more expensive than before.

However, with the previous generation CR-V’s 2.0-litre i-VTEC naturally aspirated variant no more, the CR-V’s starting price is 40 percent more expensive than before!

Despite the already steep increase in price at launch, Honda Indonesia has revised the pricing for the Honda CR-V once more, but only for the e:HEV hybrid variant, which is also the most popular CR-V variant in Indonesia, contributing over 70 percent of sales.

The new price is up by 0.6 percent, or up from IDR 799.9 million to IDR 804.9 million (~RM 244k).

Specifications remain unchanged – 19-inch wheels, Head-up Display (HUD), Bose 12-speaker audio system, panoramic sunroof, full suite of Honda Sensing advanced driving aids, 8 airbags are included.

Closer to home, Honda Malaysia is expected to launch the all-new Honda CR-V before the year ends.

Like our neighbouring countries, the new generation 2023 Honda CR-V’s starting price is expected to see a significant jump, as the outgoing generation model’s 2.0-litre variant (from RM 146,900) is already sold out and won’t be replaced.

The 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo variant starts from RM 165,800 so it is reasonable to expect the new generation model to start from a circa ~RM 170k price range.

We still don’t know if the hybrid variant will be launched here but it’s more likely than not. Looking at Honda Malaysia’s current line-up, only the entry-level WR-V and old models like the outgoing generation CR-V and Accord (which won’t be replaced) are not offered with a hybrid variant. All recent models bar the entry-level WR-V are offered with a hybrid.
