Let the BMW iX1 rock your world at the RHB DRIVE Premium & EV Roadshow at Bukit Jalil this weekend

Calm, understated, but no less lacking a punch β€“ that's the 2023 BMW iX1 electric (EV) SUV, and it's ready for you at the ongoing RHB DRIVE Premium and EV Roadshow that's happening all through 2- to 4-June 2023 at Pavilion Bukit Jalil.

It's as it says on the tin; an EV version of the combustion-engine X1 (U11) SUV. As such it's as viable as any for your starting point into the premium EV world, with all of the BMW charms you expect.

Fully-imported (CBU) from Germany, our iX1 is sold in the sole all-wheel drive xDrive 30 variant. Propulsion comes from the fifth-generation of BMW's eDrive technology, and the twin-motor setup β€“ one by the front axle, the other on the rear β€“ gives you a maximum system output of a heady 313 PS and 494 Nm.

The iX1 is claimed to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and top speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h.  As for suspension, the iX1 gets Adaptive M Suspension setup as standard.

A 64.7 kWh lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery housed flat beneath the underbody offers a maximum driving range (WLTP) of 440 km. Getting battery levels up won't be too long either; with capabilities to be recharged at up to 130 kW, the battery can be recharged from 10 to 80 percent capacity in just 29 minutes.

AC charging meanwhile goes up to a max 11 kW, allowing a fully-depleted battery to fill up again in just 6.5 hours.

Kit count includes BMW Live Cockpit Professional system (12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment), managed by the new BMW OS 8. Wireless Android Auto, Apple Carplay, Head-up Display (HUD), and a Qi wireless charging are standard fare.

For safety, the iX1 comes with 8-airbags, ABS, traction control and the BMW Driving Assistant Plus package which includes lane departure warning, lane change warning, front and rear collision warning, front and rear AEB and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Automatic Speed Limit Assist as standard.

The BMW iX1 xDrive 30 is priced from RM 285,800 inclusive of a 5-year/unlimited mileage warranty and scheduled service program, while the battery receives an 8-year/160,000 km warranty.
