Amidst the drama surrounding the increased RFID implementation in multiple tolls and the phasing out of Touch ‘n Go and SmartTag lanes, Touch ‘n Go (TnG) is set to introduce a brand-new card that has Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities.
The NFT-enabled card will allow users to easily top-up their TnG cards using an NFC-enabled phone via the TnG eWallet app.
Currently, the TnG card that has been on sale in the past 20 years does not have the option to top-up from the eWallet because it needs a specific card reader to complete the transaction. Shops with the specific card reader also only accept cash transactions.
TnG Digital Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Ignatius Ong pointed out that this is part of the security measures to safeguard the TnG card transactions.
As of yet, TnG has not set an official launch date. But CarSifu reports that an announcement will come in the next few weeks.
