CKD Mazda CX-30 to be launched in Malaysia, 2022 or later

It appears that Malaysia could welcome the locally-assembled (CKD) 2021 Mazda CX-30 in the near future, according to a report published by AmInvest Bank. Meanwhile, a seperate report by Public Investment Bank states that production of the SUV is slated to begin in December this year.

Update 12-March 2021: A Bermaz Auto source clarified that the Mazda CX-30 CKD is only set to be introduced in 2022 or later.

The same report also estimates that local assembly of the model will reduce its selling price by around RM 15,000.

Currently the CX-30 is fully-imported (CBU Japan), and prices for the line-up are as follows:

Mazda CX-30 price in Malaysia
Variant Priced from
2.0G Core (2WD) RM 144,759
2.0G High (2WD) RM 159,109
1.8D High (2WD) RM 167,673
2.0G High (AWD) RM 170,459
On-the-road prices sans insurance, with SST discount

Voted Japan's most beautiful car, the CX-30 has been quite a hit with Malaysians - outselling the Mazda CX-3 by three times last year.

The MX-30

The mild-hybrid MX-30 is another candidate for local assembly but no decision has been made yet.

As it stands, the Mazda CX-5 and Mazda CX-8 are the two models that are currently assembled at Mazda Malaysia's plant in Kulim, Kedah.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position.
