Those who find the 2024 Honda HR-Va bit too common and the CR-V too big can now look towards the 2024 Honda ZR-V that's now in Malaysia courtesy of one enterprising reconditioned car dealer. Spoiler alert: being different doesn't always come cheap.
What does the ZR-V do differently from the HR-V then? A seperate platform, to start – it shares an architecture with the Honda Civic. However, this particular ZR-V doesn't come with a hybrid powertrain but a rather a turbocharged one, with the 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo engine giving 178 PS and 240 Nm of output, paired to a CVT.
Within the cabin there's things like a 360-degree camera, Bose audio system, full digital cluster, USB-C ports, wireless charging, support for wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, memory function for driver's seat settings, and power adjusters for passenger seats.
Size-wise, it's larger than the HR-V, but smaller in footprint to the CR-V. No Ultra Seats and all that though.
Interestingly, the ADAS Honda Sensing in this ZR-V has a function that is not present in Honda Malaysia models so far, namely the Blind Spot Information (BSI) warning system. For those who feel that this technology is more effective than the LaneWatch camera system that only supports the left side, the reconditioned ZR-V is certainly more enticing.
In the context of imported models, the crossover also comes with features synonymous with reconditioned models from there, such as heated seats and a heated steering wheel.
As usual with most other reconditioned models, there's a few quirks to note (such as the Japanese-language instrumentation and infotainment), and the ETC toll reader that does nothing in Malaysia.
For those interested in checking this or any other reconditioned models, it's wise to do your due diligence first. The car can be viewed on Carlist here.
