Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) has expanded its line-up of the 2022 Ford Ranger with the addition of the 2.0-litre XL 4x4 Single Cab manual variant (totalling 7 variants now), aimed at customers who are looking for a robust and reliable workhorse pickup.

Priced at RM98,888 (OTR, sans insurance) the Ford Ranger XL Single Cab is powered by Ford’s proven 2.0-litre single-turbo diesel engine which delivers 170 PS and peak torque of 405 Nm at 1,750-2,500 rpm. Power is sent to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission that features a new gear set for smoother shifts.

As with the entire 2022 Ranger line-up, the new XL Single Cab also benefits from the 50mm track and wheelbase increase, which offers improved stability on and off-road as well as wider front approach and rear departure angles.

The next-gen Ranger XL Single Cab also offers the largest single cargo bed on a pickup in the market. Measuring 2,332 mm in length, 1,420 mm in width and 540 mm in height so customers can carry more cargo and load flat larger items such as a full-size pallet. Ground clearance is also higher at 230 mm.

There are also six cargo tie-down hooks on strong steel tube rails that provide convenient points for securing loads. For more versatility at remote work sites, the tailgate can also double up as a mobile workbench with an integrated ruler and clamp pockets to measure, grip and cut building materials.

Despite being a base variant, the next-generation Ranger XL Single Cab also comes standard with the first-in-class 10.1-inch Sync 4A touchscreen infotainment system with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and the 8-inch colour digital instrument panel.

Safety equipment includes 2 airbags, ABS, stability control with traction control, hill descent control, hill launch assist, rollover mitigation and trailer sway control.

On the outside, the next-generation Ranger XL Single Cab is down-to-earth with 16-inch alloy wheels, a standard black front grille, a body-coloured front bumper and black rear bumpers. 

Elsewhere, the Ranger XL features halogen headlamps, rear fog lamps, a front recovery hook, daytime running lights and an LED tailgate-mounted stop lamp.

Exterior colour options for the next-gen Ranger XL Single Cab include Absolute Black, Aluminium Metallic, Arctic White and Meteor Grey.

The 2022 Ranger XL Single Cab comes with a 5-year/160,000 km manufacturer’s warranty. Additionally, customers can opt for the 7-year extended warranty and extended service package through which they can make upfront payments for scheduled services for up to 5 years.
