An affordable electric car is set to launch in Thailand this December. Revealed today, the MG EP electric station wagon aims to be the benchmark for electric cars in Thailand with the following key elements:
- Dimension
- Comfort and safety
- Powerful performance
- Low cost of ownership
While most electric cars have always seemed inaccessible to the masses, the MG EP aims to change this. Making an affordable electric car available in Thailand in well in-line with the Thai government’s 2030 electrification target.

The station wagon body is selected to maximise the practical space. Active and passive systems are also equipped on the MG EP.

While the charging rate (kW) have not been specified, what we do know is that:
- DC charging from 0-80% takes about 40 minutes.
- AC charging from 0 - 100% takes about 7 hours and 15 minutes
- Charging is done via a Type 2 charger.
We're curious to see the market response towards this new EV in Thailand. The station wagon body type is not very popular among Malaysians, but an affordable and practical electric car might just entice some Malaysian to go electric.
