BYD is the best-selling battery electric vehicle (BEV) brand in Thailand and is setting up an assembly plant in the Kingdom. According to a Chinese insider, production of the first Thai-assembled (CKD) BYD model could begin this month, pointing to a launch in May. The insider posted a photo on their Weibo that was allegedly taken at the BYD Thailand factory. It showed a BYD Atto 3 with some parts installed. The right-hand drive (RHD) unit is on a production line surrounded by working personnel.

BYD has launched the updated 2024 BYD Atto 3 in Japan, priced at JPY 4.5 million (around RM 143k). Electric vehicles (EVs) are getting more popular in Thailand as the latest sales data from the Kingdom shows. According to Autolife Thailand, 5,498 units of EVs were sold in the country in February 2023. This is a rise from 3,017 units in January 2023.
