At the outset, the title isn’t to be taken at face value. It is meant to question the definition of modern luxury in cars. To quote Coco Chanel, “People think luxury is the opposite of poverty. It is not. It is the opposite of vulgarity.” Today, the majority of luxury vehicles – especially from German manufacturers – define luxury through massive screens, virtual AI ‘concierge’ bots that you rarely use, and disco-like ambient lighting. This tech-beyond-everything approach has replaced what used

UMW Toyota Motor's Beyond Zero event – running from now all the way to 28-February in Bukit Jalil – is perhaps the single best demonstration of Toyota's multi-pathway mobility strategy our nation has seen thus far, housing multiple interesting concept and production models under one roof. Interspersed among the Camry Hybrids and Mirais is this pair of the 2024 Toyota Alphard Hybrid and 2024 Toyota Vellfire Hybrid; the first time electrified variants of these popular people movers are seen in Mal

Fully imported (CBU) from Japan, UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) launched both the all-new Toyota Alphard and Toyota Vellfire back in October. Even if there are allocations of several hundred units for Malaysia, the number of orders has been quite overwhelming. In fact, if you reserved your brand-new official Alphard/Vellfire with Toyota, you may only receive it within a year or two. Those looking at the recond route might also see a similar situation as the AH40 Alphard and Vellfire see similar long wa

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) began accepting orders for the imported (CBU), Japan-made AH40 generation 2023 Toyota Alphard and Vellfire models on July 3, one month after the pair’s global debut in Japan. Despite its rather high price of RM 538,000 and RM 438,000 respectively, the reception was tremendous, with the number of orders quickly exceeding the initial allocation of several hundred units for Malaysia. Officially, UMWT said the waiting period is now “more than 1 year.” Checks with local Toyota

Limousines are great and all but in this modern age, luxury MPVs are the new status symbol of the rich and famous. Toyota pioneered the segment with the Alphard and Vellfire that eventually led to the pinnacle of these luxo-boxes on wheels, the Lexus LM. Now, Toyota has somewhat taken the LM and transformed it back into a Vellfire in the form of the Vellfire Spacious Lounge concept. Say what now? Well, it’s not precisely that but it’s not much of a stretch to explain it that way either. The Lexu

Rounding off UMW Toyota Motor's party today is this, the all-new 2023 2023 Toyota Vellfire (AGH40) that's just been launched in Malaysia. Like its dearer Alphard sibling (details here), it's also fully-imported (CBU Japan) and available in just one variant, priced from RM 438,000 sans insurance. Exterior: Distinctive new look The new Vellfire is slightly larger than the previous generation. That also means it benefits from a roomier cabin as well, but first, these are the measurements: 2023 Vell
