Ahead of its official launch in the first half of 2024 (H1 2024), the Jaecoo J7 made its public Malaysian debut at The Waterfront at Desa Park City over the weekend. The premium-looking SUV will also make stops in Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, and Johor Bahru in the coming months.

Malaysia will be the first Southeast Asian market to launch the J7 following a global rollout in Eastern Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Central and South America. Though Jaecoo is a premium sub-brand of Chery, its distribution and dealers will be separated from the makers of the Omoda 5.

The Jaecoo J7 was previously previewed to the Malaysian media earlier this year with the 5-seater SUV being powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 197 PS/290 Nm. The unit is paired with a Getrag 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the front or all 4 wheels.

The premium SUV is loaded with features including a Sony sound system, a laminated acoustic windshield, a full-length panoramic sunroof, and a 14.8-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
It also has up to 21 ADAS features including:
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
- Blind Spot Detection (BSD)
- Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK)
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert w/Braking (RCTA)
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

- Integrated Cruise Assist (ICA)
