Toyota Yaris Cross – Features
Safety features
The Toyota Yaris Cross comes standard with 6 normally placed airbags, as well as two central airbags which are the new norm in Euro NCAP 2020. The central airbags protect the driver and front passenger from knocking into each other should an unfortunate impact from the side occurs.
Meanwhile, Toyota Safety Sense with increased activation is included in the range-topping Toyota Yaris Cross. Apart from auto braking in straight lines, the Pre-collision system under the Intersection Turning Assist also brakes should there be a risk of collision into an oncoming vehicle or pedestrian while making right turns.
Other driver assist systems are dynamic radar cruise control, lane tracing assist, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. The Toyota Yaris Cross is only assisted by a rearview camera.
Comfort features
One of the key features of the Toyota Yaris Cross is its high driving position. Sitting at the driver’s seat makes you feel like a larger vehicle, polar opposite of what the Yaris image means. The seats are upholstered in leather, while features from the Toyota Yaris hatchback such as automatic air-conditioning, smart entry and start, multi-function steering wheel and USB charging port. Thanks to the fitment of the electronic parking brake (EPB) with auto hold, the lower console feels more spacious too.
Infotainment
The infotainment system on the Toyota Yaris Cross is a free-standing unit with a touch screen display and integrated physical buttons and knobs. At 8 inches, the infotainment system is large enough for such a small cabin. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connection is included. Various specific vehicle information is also displayed on the infotainment system, such as the hybrid power flow and driving information. The sound is meanwhile pumped out to a six-speaker setup. Similar to other Toyota models, the sound quality from the Toyota Yaris Cross is above average.
