Xpeng Motors has unveiled its latest model, the battery electric (BEV) Xpeng X9 at Auto Guanzhou 2023 recently. Adding to the absolute flood of EV MPVs China has, the new model has a presale price of RMB 388,000 (~RM 255k) in its home market.

Positioned as the brand's flagship offering, the three-row, seven-seat X9 is based on the company's SEPA 2.0 EV architecture and comes loaded with a host of tech, including the XNGP line of advanced driver aids, active rear wheel steering, and a double-chamber air-suspension that allows for ride height adjustments of up to 90 mm, in addition to automatic adjustments on the move.

The Guangzhou-based carmaker – which has only been around since 2017, but has since launched a slew of MPVs, SUVs, and sedans, including a couple of 'flying car' concepts – boasts a slippery body with an ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.227 Cd, helping in its cause to bump range.

Speaking of which, the X9 offers two powertrains with three different battery combinations: the front-wheel drive (FWD) base model and the all-wheel drive (AWD) performance model. Specifications below:

With a wheelbase of 3,160 mm and dimensions measuring 5,293 mm long, 1,988 mm wide, and 1,785 mm tall, the X9 boasts a spacious interior that also has a maximum storage capacity of 2,554 litres.

Tech in the cabin include things like a TV-like 21.4-inch entertanment screen, a wrap-around air-conditioning system, and a fridge.

Beyond the ADAS features, the X9 is made with a front- and rear-integrated die-cast aluminum body structure. It is the only mass-produced MPV globally with such a structure that promises higher body strength.
