But if you wondered how would a track-focused City Hatchback look like, Grand Prix International, the organiser of the 2021 Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS 2021) has produced this special City Hatchback made for the circuit.
The track-ready hatchback is based on the RS variant which starts at THB 749,900 and includes THB 422,999 worth of equipment and performance upgrades. In total, it adds up to THB 1,091,999 (Around RM 145,000) and you can use it only for a special race called the Honda City One Make Race.
The performance upgrades on the City Hatchback race car are pretty awesome too. The list of upgrades includes a full roll cage, a Sparco steering wheel, a Sparco lightweight racing bucket seat, a custom aero bodykit, Tein racing dampers, Enkei rims, and Yokohama tyres.
The race car is also given some performance upgrades with its ECU reprogrammed and the exhaust system revised. However, there are no performance figures listed. The regular City Hatchback RS is powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder unit that produces up to 122 PS and 173 Nm.
Grand Prix International is also organising the Honda City Hatchback One Make Race in Thailand. This year, they plan to do 6 races across three of Thailand's most famous race tracks and customers who buy this car will automatically join the race.
One make races are a way for car companies to raise interest in their cars and also at the same time, an opportunity to increase grassroots motorsports opportunities. Season 4 of Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Malaysia Vios Challenge Cup is one of those motorsports tournaments and it is currently underway.
