Having racked up a slew of international awards, most recently a 5-Star EURO NCAP safety rating, the soon-to-be-launched in Malaysia, 2023 Chery Omoda 5 has now picked up a few more accolades in Qatar and Mexico.
The Omoda 5 was recently awarded âBest Mid-sized Crossover Vehicleâ by Autoshow TV of Mexico, as well as the 2022 Auto Award, to become the biggest winner at the awards.
Separately, on the other side of the world, the Qatar Automobile Association named the Omoda 5 the âBest Science and Technology SUV Awardâ, further cementing its global acceptance.
The âArt in Motionâ design language of the Omoda 5 plays with light and shadow to result in a dynamic appearance that contains a free and fashionable travel space independent of the real world. It also stands for a world of infinite possibilities and a borderless universe where users can interact with each other. From its âfloating roofâ silhouette to its striking double-edged tail, the Omoda 5 hints at strong power and performance.
The futuristic SUV has also been well-received by the sporting community â most recently by the members of the Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club, which has won the European Champions six times and the âTreble Winnersâ five times. Among other praises, the members deemed it âa beautiful, comfortable and powerful vehicleâ and liked most that it âis equipped with full voice control with a warm and comfortable riding experienceâ.
Closer to home, the upcoming Omoda 5 was first previewed to members of the press in Oct 2022, roughly 6 months after the Omoda 5 went on sale in China. Chery Malaysia has since confirmed that the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro will be launched in Malaysia in mid-2023. Both will arrive as locally-assembled (CKD) units.

Passion finally lead to formal training in Mechanical Engineering. Instead of the bigger picture, he obsesses with the final drive ratio and spring rates of cars and spends the weekends wondering why a Perodua Myvi is so fast.
