Roughly one year after Smart debuted the Smart #1, the Geely and Mercedes-Benz co-owned EV marque has just launched the Smart #3. This is Smart’s second model to be developed on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform.
As the name suggests, the Smart #3 is a larger model than the #1. The Smart #3 is 4,400 mm long, 1,844 mm wide, and 1,556 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,785 mm. The Smart #3 is much closer in terms of dimensions to the recently-launched Zeekr X.

Power for the Smart #3 comes from a rear-mounted electric motor that does 272 PS. Smart also offers the #3 with an additional front-mounted motor that does 156 PS, allowing for a combined output of 428 PS.

Battery capacity and driving range were not disclosed, but we won’t be surprised if the figures are similar to the recently-launched Zeekr X, seeing that both EV SUVs are essentially identical.
Visually, the Smart #3 looks like a more balanced version of the Smart #1. Recall that the smaller Smart #1 looks a little bulbous, especially from the rear.
But because the Smart #3 is longer and wider than the #1, the proportions of the Smart #3 looks more balanced. Smart is also offering a Brabus-kitted #3 in China, which adds a sportier touch to the SUV.
Like its stablemate the Zeekr X, the Smart #3 also features hidden door handles that gives the SUV a cleaner side profile. 19-inch, dual-tone alloy wheels complete the side profile.

Stepping inside, the Smart #3 features a cabin that’s largely similar to the smaller Smart #1, including the 12.8-inch infotainment display that’s powered by the Qualcomm SA8155P system-on-chip (SoC). The T-shaped dashboard is further complemented by a multi-colour ambient lighting system.
The Smart #3 is set to go on sale in China later this year, with exports to Europe slated to take place in 2024.
Seeing that the Smart #1 is already Malaysia-bound, we reckon that the larger Smart #3 would follow suit, though the actual timeframe remains to be seen for now.
