Last month, Perodua was happy to announce that they have hit an all-time new sales record in their 27-year history with 25,035 cars sold in September. But it seems that momentum has carried on to October as the company registered 26,852 cars sold, setting yet another new sales record.
Other than that, Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad further added that in October alone Perodua had purchased RM 600 million worth of parts from local suppliers for the production of Perodua cars.
So, this means that not only is Perodua contributing to the country’s economic recovery after the Movement Control Order (MCO), the company has also created an enormous economic multiplier effect on the local auto eco-system.
The automotive eco-system includes direct and indirect sectors, such as automotive component suppliers, authorised dealers, stockists, agencies and contractors. Indirect partners include financial institutions such as banks and insurance companies.
“In terms of production capacity, we are on average at 98 percent in October 2020 with 26,362 vehicles – which is also our highest-ever monthly production figure – produced at our manufacturing facilities here in Sungai Choh,” Dato’ Zainal said.
The sales number is made up of 8,052 Perodua Myvis, 6,738 Perodua Axias, 6,895 Perodua Bezzas, 3,193 Perodua Aruzs, and 1,974 Perodua Alzas. The Myvi, Axia and Bezza are the top-3 best-selling cars cumulatively throughout 2020 in Malaysia.
In contrast, Proton sold only 11,392 units (inclusive export sales) in the month of October. The Proton Saga sold 5,069 units, that’s 1,826 less than the Bezza, while the Proton Iriz only sold 713 units.
Perodua is also introducing a new promo for November. Customers interested with the Perodua Aruz will receive a cash redemption of up to RM 1,500 on top of the current tax exemption amount.
The company is also offering cash rebates of up to RM 2,000 for its pre-owned vehicles until 31 December 2020. But this offer only available at the Perodua KL sales outlet located on Jalan Pahang, Kuala Lumpur.
