We’re almost upon the Malaysian launch of the C27 2022 Nissan Serena S-Hybrid facelift, estimated to be happening this month as shared by sources familiar with the matter. How close are we? Extremely, as these photos show the MPV on a trailer heading to showrooms.
The facelift should toe the line of the current offerings, meaning a Highway Star and Premium Highway Star variant; the latter carrying black interior trim.
However, don’t expect it to be powered by the newer, more advanced e-Power series-hybrid system. Therefore, the facelift should carry on with the same S-Hybrid 2.0-litre MR20DD 4-cylinder petrol engine mated with an SM24 electric motor.

Combined outputs should remain unchanged at 150 PS and 200 Nm of torque with an Xtronic CVT-type automatic transmission (CVT) sending all of that to the front wheels.
The sources did mention a new shade for the exterior called Dark Metal Grey with Diamond Black Roof.

While the JDM variant received the Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) safety suite, there’s no indication if the same will be made available for the Malaysian variants.
Furthermore, bookings for the facelift are already being accepted though it’s now guaranteed that buyers will miss out on the sales tax exemption for locally-assembled (CKD) passenger cars that ended on 30 June 2022.
No indication on pricing but a safe bet will be a marginal increase over the current pricing. The very same source that shared the info with us did however confirm that a price tag of “below RM 150,000” for the Highway Star and “below RM 165,000” for the Premium Highway Star variant.
For comparisons sake, the now discontinued Serena S-Hybrid was priced as below:
Highway Star: RM 140,226
Premium Highway Star Black Package: RM 150,226
Premium Highway Star Two-Tone Package: RM 152,103
βBetter late than never.β Some despise it, others begrudgingly agree with it but he swears by itβ¦ much to the chagrin of everyone around him. That unfortunately stems from all of his project cars not running most of the time, which in turn is testament to his questionable decision-making skills in life. A culmination of many wrongs fortunately making a right; much like his project cars on the rare occasions they run, heβs still trying to figure out if another project car is the way to go.
