While speaking at the launch of the 2023 Mazda CX-30 CKD, Executive Chairman of Bermaz Auto Berhad, Dato Seri Ben Yeoh said that the backlog of orders for Mazda now numbers up to 7,000 units across all models.
He adds that Bermaz Auto is also racing to deliver vehicle orders that were made during the Penjana zero-SST period, which has a vehicle registration cut-off date of 31st March 2023.
When asked about the current backlog of orders, Dato' Sri Ben said, “I think it’s well known that we have outstanding backorders of about 6,000 units and now with the initial orders of the CX-30 that (figure) is reaching about 7,000 units. And out of the 7,000 units, approximately 3,000 unit orders fall under the Penjana tax exemption scheme,”
When asked about business sustainability beyond the Penjana scheme, “When we look at the market and separate segments, we are very competitive. The CX-30 is gathering a lot of initial orders and enthusiasm from the market, the Mazda CX-5 is an established product, and though volumes are lower, the 7-seater CX-8 has proved to be a compelling product for our customers,”
Given the healthy backlog of orders and current market conditions, Bermaz Auto is confident in its business thriving for the remainder of 2023.
In answering a question from WapCar – Dato' Sri Ben said Bermaz Auto sees significant growth in the crossover segment which is represented by the Mazda CX-30.
He added, “The market is expanding in terms of the CX-30’s segment, and we’re very interested in this segment,”
Of the 1,000 or so orders for the CX-30, customers who booked the CBU models previously will now receive the CKD versions which offer increased value and a price reduction of about 13 percent compared to the CBU model.

Passion finally lead to formal training in Mechanical Engineering. Instead of the bigger picture, he obsesses with the final drive ratio and spring rates of cars and spends the weekends wondering why a Perodua Myvi is so fast.
