Following its launch in China back in November 2021, the Maxus Mifa 9 electric (EV) van has been previewed in Thailand at the ongoing 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show.
For the Kingdom, the Maxus Mifa 9 will wear a different nameplate, in this case, MG Maxus 9. The reason for the name change is because the MG brand is a well know marque in the Kingdom, plus both the MG and Maxus marques are part of the larger SAIC umbrella.

While MG did not provide specifications for the Thai-spec Mifa 9, our colleagues over at Autofun Thailand mentioned that the TH-spec car could mirror the China-spec Mifa 9. If thatβs the case, then the TH-spec Mifa 9 could get an electric motor that does 245 PS and 350 Nm.
Power for the Mifa 9 comes from a ternary lithium battery with several capacities, ranging from 77 kWh to 90 kWh. The latter offers a range of up to 560 km, measured under the CLTC test cycle.
Like the China-spec Mifa 9, the one shown at the motor show up north gets the same aggressive front fascia with deep inserts on the sides, finished with a generous dose of chrome. Towards the rear, the Mifa 9 gets an elaborate tail light design that sees the LED tail light split into two parts β one that goes towards the rear window, and another that goes towards the rear bumper.
Stepping inside, the Mifa 9 gets 2 LCD screens β a 10.25-inch unit for the instrument cluster and a larger 12.3-inch for infotainment duties. Speaking of infotainment, the MPV shown at the motor show also gets a 12-speaker JBL sound system and 64-colour ambient lighting system.
Bookings are set to be opened tomorrow (22-March), with the launch and official price announcement are slated to happen some time in May.
Closer to home, it remains to be seen if the Maxus Mifa 9 could be offered here. Weststar Maxus, the official distributor of Maxus vehicles here in Malaysia currently offers the Maxus eDeliver 3, an EV van that is aimed at the commercial and logistics industry.
