A convoy of five Hyundai Ioniq 5s is currently on their way to Vietnam from Singapore. Earlier on Monday, the convoy stopped over at the Sime Darby Motors City in Ara Damansara, before continuing their journey up north.
โThis expedition is a living testament to the Ioniq 5โs reliability for long-distance travel. Not only does it promise to save travel costs, but it also delivers outstanding performance, an exceptional driving experience and an unparalleled comfort within a spacious cabin,โ Low Yuan Lung, Managing Director of Hyundai Sime Darby Motor.

โIn its journey from here to Thailand, the Ioniq 5 convoy will navigate through Ipoh and Penang from Kuala Lumpur before crossing over to Thailand. Impressively, the journey requires only two stops for charging i.e in Perak and in Penang. This not only underscores the efficiency of the Ioniq 5 but also serves as a compelling showcase of the robustness of our EV network infrastructure in ensuring a reliable and convenient charging experience for those venturing long-distance travels,โ added Low.
The five-car convoy is part of Hyundaiโs "Go Far with Zero Worries" Ioniq 5 ASEAN Tour. The convoy left Singapore on Monday, starting from the newly opened Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS), and arrived at the Malaysian capital later that day.
Three of the cars carry Singapore license plates, representing HMGICS while two carry Indonesia license plates, representing Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI). Both plants in Singapore and Indonesia currently produce the Ioniq 5.
The 2,751 km journey, spanning 11 days, will cover Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, before ending at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on 30-November.
In Malaysia, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is available in three variants, all imported (CBU) from Korea. Prices are as follows:
- Ioniq 5 Lite 58 kWh: RM 207,808
- Ioniq 5 Plus 58 kWh: RM 238,408
- Ioniq 5 Max 72 kWh: 270,408
