An all-new Lexus RX is due to be launched in 2022, according to information gathered by Japanese media. Before that, the current-gen model will receive a few small updates in Japan come July 2021.
The current RX-series (AL20) made its debut in 2015. The model was then facelifted in May 2019, coming with additional tech and safety features, as well as a visual nip-and-tuck. Malaysians received the facelifted model in September that year.
Either way, it's already a 6-year old model, and a major refresh is due - hence the all-new model that's touted to launch in 2022.
Lexus RX minor update for 2021
Short of a facelift and more of a running change, the update to the Japan-spec RX-series will see the model receiving a Panasonic Nanoe X air purifier installed to its air-conditioning system as standard equipment.
Meanwhile, the rear USB charging ports will be fully USB-C - instead of the USB-A ones currently in the car.
Rounding off the changes include two new colours (Sonic Iridium and Sonic Chrome), and the discontinuation of Amber Crystal Shine.
Since the model in Malaysia is fully imported from Japan, expect these changes to trickle down here too. To recap, here's the price list for the Lexus RX in Malaysia:
