Turbo variants of all new Porsche models will soon be differentiated by a new ‘Turbonite’ metallic grey tone badge. The Turbonite grey colour theme will also be applied to exterior and interior trims. The application of this new colour will vary slightly across different models.
The third-generation Porsche Panamera Turbo, due to make its global debut this month, will be the first model to wear the Turbonite-coloured badge.
“In 1974, we presented the first turbocharged 911. Since then, the Turbo has become a synonym for our high-performance top models and is now more or less a brand of its own. We now want to make the Turbo even more visible, and differentiate it more markedly from other derivatives such as the GTS,” explains Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche. “This is why we’ve developed a distinctive Turbo aesthetic. From now on, the Turbo versions will exhibit a consistent appearance across all model series – one that is elegant, high-quality and very special.”
Apart from the grey badge, Porsche says the ‘Turbo’ lettering on the rear and the Daylight Opening (DLO), as well as the borders of the side windows, will be given a Turbonite finish in the Turbo models in future.
Some models may get Turbonite treatment on trim parts like inlays in the front aprons, the spokes, or the aeroblades in the light alloy wheels.
Inside, depending on the model, selected components such as the steering wheel, trim strips, belt straps, driving mode switch, and air conditioning control panel may also feature Turbonite.
This new Turbonite badge came after Porsche’s earlier announcement of a new, modernized Porsche crest.
