By now, you're probably familiar with how Hyundai works: launch a pedestrian model, and along the line, develop a sinister sibling that crackles and pops. They've done it five times before, and this 2021 Hyundai Elantra N is their sixth full-N model.
Prior to this, we've seen the recipe take the form of the Hyundai i20 N, i30 N, i30 Fastback N, Veloster N, and the Kona N.
The hullaballoo surrounding the model today has been this pair of new official teaser images, this time showing the car in almost-production form, draped in Hyundai's trademark Performance Blue.
It's going to be way shoutier than the bog-standard Elantra for sure - there's red trims circling the bottom of the car, a pair of cannon-like exhaust exits, and intricate wheels.
Analogous to Toyota's GR and GR Sport, Hyundai N models are like the former, with performance to back it up. NLine however are like the latter - such as Malaysia's upcoming Hyundai Kona N Line - usually just offering visual updates.
Which gives rise to but initial reports suggesting that the Elantra N will share the same 2.0-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder that's in the i30N and Kona N. Besides 280 PS and 392 Nm of torque, it also makes tasty crackling and popping noises.
Other than that, the Korean carmaker is still pretty tight-lipped. Further details concerning the model will be revealed in the coming weeks.
