BMW Malaysia unveiled an entry addition to the U11 BMW iX1 battery electric vehicle (BEV), the BMW iX1 eDrive20 M Sport.

The electric SUV is fully imported (CBU) from Regensburg, Germany and is priced from RM 249,800.

That is around RM 30,000 less than the iX1 xDrive30 M Sport that was launched here a year ago. The entry iX1 variant has a more distinct look in front with an enclosed kidney grille design but everything else is similar to its more powerful sister.

Inside, the base iX1 is equipped with the driver-oriented BMW Curved Display which features a combined high-resolution 10.25-inch instrument display cluster and 10.7-inch infotainment display.

The iX1 eDrive20 M Sport is powered by a single electric motor on the front axle that makes 204 PS and 250 Nm. The motor is juiced up by a 64.8-kWh high-density battery and has a range of 475 km (WLTP).

By comparison, the iX1 xDrive30 M Sport is powered by two electric motors on both axles that produce a combined 313 PS/494 Nm. It uses a slightly smaller capacity 64.7-kWh battery and has a maximum driving WLTP range of 440 km. Still, the iX1 has a better quoted range than the larger iX (425 km).

The electric SUV is also supported by AC charging of up to 11 kW and DC fast charging of up to 130 kW. BMW claims that through the latter, owners can cover 120 km with just 10 minutes of charging.

As standard, owners of the BMW iX1 eDrive20 M Sport will receive the complete BMW Group Malaysia Premium Ownership experience which includes:

Owners can add on RM 14,200 to opt for the BMW Service & Repair Inclusive package which consists of a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty and free scheduled service.
