Porsche Malaysia has announced that its order books for the all-new 2024 (972) Porsche Panamera are now open.

Boasting an updated design, improved powertrains and added digitisation, prices of the 3rd-generation Panamera model start at RM 1.3 million inclusive of additional standard equipment compared to its predecessor.

For reference, the 2nd-generation model (971) Porsche Panamera was introduced in Malaysia in 2017 with a starting price of RM 890k and RM1.1 million for the base Panamera and the Panamera 4S respectively, but this was before options before options and registration charges.

The base Panamera gets the newer 2.9-litre turbocharged (previously an older 3.0-litre turbo V6) which delivers output to 353 PS and 500 Nm of torque, up by 23 PS and 50 Nm respectively over its predecessor. The engine itself has undergone a slew of upgrades to optimise boost pressure, fuel injection flow rate and ignition timing to optimise the performance of the 2.9-litre V6.

Power is sent to an updated 8-speed dual-clutch Porsche PDK transmission. The newer unit enables even better drivetrain response. As a result, the 2024 Panamera sprints to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds (versus 5.5 seconds previously) and boosts its top speed to 272 km/h.

Additionally, an electric brake booster has been introduced to the 2024 Panamera to improve pedal feel and braking precision. The front brake discs have been enlarged to 360 mm, an increase of 10 mm, and feature six-piston fixed callipers, while the rear setup remains at 330 mm with four-piston fixed callipers.

Elsewhere, the 2024 Panamera is equipped with dual-chamber two-valve air suspension featuring Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard. This advanced two-valve technology allows for separate control of the rebound and compression stages, offering a broader range between comfort and sportiness.

The system also adjusts to significantly increase damping force as needed, improving performance, especially during fast cornering. Optional rear-axle steering is available to further enhance the car's handling.

Moving inside, the new Panamera features a driver-centered interior, blending digital and analogue elements within the driver’s line of sight. This design places critical controls such as the gear selector lever and the mode switch for driving programs (Normal, Sport, Sport Plus) to the left of the steering wheel, allowing easy access without diverting attention from the road.

The dashboard integrates the high-resolution 12.3-inch central infotainment display that controls the functions of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system. An optional 10.9-inch passenger display is also offered which shows vehicle performance data and allows infotainment and video streaming control; designed to be invisible from the driver’s seat to prevent distractions.

Additionally, the Panamera integrates into the driver’s digital ecosystem effectively. Users can now log in with their Porsche ID by scanning a QR code on the PCM display. The PCM system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Meanwhile, the MyPorsche app integration into Apple CarPlay also allows direct control of functions like air conditioning, seat massage and ambient lighting settings, making it easier to control for the driver.

Elsewhere, Porsche Malaysia will also offer the 2024 Panamera with standard Matrix LED headlights. Available as an option, the high-resolution HD Matrix LED lighting system can also be specified.

The 2024 Panamera is also claimed to offer improved safety, with its ADAS suite now featuring standard Active Speed Assistant which now has traffic sign recognition. If the system is active, the Panamera will automatically adjust its cruising speed to the legal speed limit.

Note that the price listed is for the base Panamera, however, the Porsche Malaysia website also lists the more powerful versions of the Panamera suggesting that these models may be ordered too. The four other models include:

  • 470 PS/650 Nm Panamera 4 E-Hybrid
  • 544 PS/750 Nm Panamera 4S E-Hybrid
  • 544 PS/750 Nm Panamera 4S E-Hybrid Executive (long-wheelbase version)
  • 688 PS/930 Nm Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid

As of now, Porsche Malaysia has yet to announce the launch date for the 2024 Panamera.
