Sime Darby Beyond Auto, the distributor of BYD cars in Malaysia, has launched the BYD M6. Fully-imported (CBU) from China, the 7-seater C-segment fully electric MPV is available in two variants: Standard and Extended, priced from RM 110,500 and RM 124,500 respectively. Prices are on-the-road, excluding insurance.

The M6 Standard comes with a front-mounted electric motor producing 161 PS and 310 Nm of torque, while the M6 Dynamic gets a more powerful motor, generating 204 PS and 310 Nm of torque. Both variants are powered by BYD’s proprietary LFP Blade Battery.

In terms of range, the Standard variant features a 55.4 kWh battery, delivering up to 420 km per charge (NEDC), while the Dynamic variant is equipped with a larger 71.8 kWh battery, providing a maximum range of 530 km (NEDC).

As for charging capabilities, the Standard variant can do up to 89 kW of DC charging, while the Extended variant can do up to 115 kW, which can fully charge the M6 in around 40 minutes. Regular AC charging is only at 7 kW. The BYD M6 supports V2L (vehicle-to-load), enabling external devices to draw power from the vehicle.

nside, the BYD M6 offers a 7-seater configuration (2-3-2), a boot space expandable to 580 litres, rear air vents, and a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other conveniences include a wireless phone charger and air conditioning with PM 2.5 filtration.

The Extended variant adds powered front seats, powered tailgate, and a panoramic glass roof.

The BYD M6 supports the NFC Digital Key function, allowing users to lock, unlock, and start their car with a compatible smartphone or wearable device.

Standard safety features include a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The Extended variant adds adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist, front and rear collision warning, and blind spot detection.

The BYD M6 is offered in four exterior colour options: Crystal White, Ink Stone Blue, Cosmos Black, and Harbour Grey.

For peace of mind, the BYD M6 is covered by a 6-year/150,000 km warranty, 8-year/160,000 km battery warranty, and 8-year/150,000 km drive unit warranty, whichever comes first.
