Coming in 2025, Jetour plans to launch up to 4 new models in Malaysia; including new T1 and T2 SUVs

Jetour, a sub-brand under the Chery group of companies alongside Jaecoo, Omoda, and Chery itself, plans to make a splash in the Malaysian market in 2025 with up to 4 new model introductions beginning as early as Q1 of next year.

The brand – which reportedly will operate independently from Chery Malaysia – had previously showcased the Dashing and the X70 Plus, both initially set to launch in Malaysia in locally assembled (CKD) form within 2024.

However, recent updates shared with Malaysian media at the ongoing Jetour Global Travel+ Conference 2024 reveal that the launches of the Dashing and X70 Plus will be postponed until early 2025, before the introduction of two newer “Adventure Series” models, the T1 and T2, the latter understood to arrive next year too. 

To avoid confusion here's a breakdown of Jetour’s upcoming models and larger plans for Malaysia arranged according to their stated timelines:

Dashing:

• A five-seat SUV built on the Kunlun architecture, available in Prime and Signature variants.
• Both variants are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four engine producing 156 PS and 230 Nm, paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, driving the front wheel

X70 Plus

• A seven-seat D-segment SUV targeting larger families, positioned as a competitor to models like the Proton X90 and Chery Tiggo 8 Pro.
• Equipped with the same 1.5-litre turbo engine and 6-speed DCT, this SUV offers a similar output of 156 PS and 230 Nm.

Both these models are planned to launch as early as Q1 or Q2 of 2025 and will be locally assembled (CKD).

Jetour’s Adventure Series: T2 and T1

Following the Dashing and X70 Plus, Jetour will introduce its 'Adventure Series' models, the T2 and T1, subsequently. These models will initially launch as fully imported (CBU) units, with plans to transition to local assembly (CKD) afterwards.

Jetour T2

• Set for a Q3 2025 debut in Malaysia, this SUV, also known as the Traveller in China, is designed for light/adventure off-road activities.
• Positioned as an off-road-ready model suited for adventurous outings, the T2 will cater to those seeking a do-it-all SUV.

Jetour T1

• A plug-in hybrid and more on-road biased variant that sits below the T2, this model will arrive in Malaysia following the T2, so tentatively Q4 2025 or Q1 2026.
• It’s also optimised as a light off-road vehicle.

Future Launches: T5 and P5

Jetour’s future lineup for Malaysia may expand beyond the Adventure Series, with plans to introduce the T5 SUV and its pickup variant, the P5, around 2026 or later. The T5 is an offroad SUV offering 5-, 6- or 7-seat configurations, powered by a (724 hp and 795 Nm) 2.0-litre turbo engine combined with dual electric motors.

The P5 pickup, based on the T5, shares the same powertrain and is tailored for utility with features like a multifunctional tailgate and an electric-only range of up to 150 km.

Local Assembly Plans

As Jetour’s models will be assembled locally in Malaysia, it’s yet to be confirmed whether the brand will establish its independent local assembly operation or tie up with a local partner.

Given the stated timeline, partnering with an established local assembler seems more likely.
