We’ve seen plenty of examples where car owners deck out their cars with aftermarket headlamps and housings to give their rides a little more glamour. But we have not heard of a case where the owner duct-taped torch lights onto the car!
Imagine the surprise when the police pulled over a man driving a Chevrolet Impala in the USA and discovered the duct-taped torch lights.
According to a report, the police initially stopped the Impala due to its unusually dim headlamps at around 2 am, but little did they expect to find torch lights that were running out of battery taped to the car.

Apparently, the Impala had suffered a front-end collision a while ago and the owner has yet to send the car for repair. The police also discovered that the driver had a suspended driver’s license.
Safe to say that duct-taping torch lights to your car are illegal, not only does it impede your vision but also make you a hazard on the road.
Lighting regulations on cars are strict every country, in the USA the regulations are so extensive that it has prevented manufacturers from installing adaptive cornering headlamps on cars.
In Malaysia, the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) reportedly issued at least 9,000 summonses against the misuse of wrong coloured light bulbs between January to June of 2020.
There isn’t a time in memory that doesn’t involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle women’s magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
