G20 2021 BMW 320i upgraded for Malaysia – Live Cockpit Pro, 10.25” screen, price up by RM 4k

BMW Malaysia announced today that the entry variant of the G20 BMW 3 Series, the 2021 BMW 320i Sport, has been upgraded with a new infotainment and digital instrument panel.
Previously, the 320i Sport missed out on the BMW Live Cockpit Professional digital instrument cluster that’s available in the higher range 330i and M340i, making do with analogue gauges.

Now, the BMW 320i gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. It’s an upgrade in terms of features list, but its opposite facing speedometer and rev counter displays are still something that you the customer, will have to learn to accept.

Personally, I never liked it. Even after spending one week with one, I never got used to it and merely adapted to it by learning to ignore it – which is not what you would expect to do with a driver-centric BMW. The Mercedes-Benz C200 for example, has a much better digital instrument cluster.
Back to the 2021 BMW 320i. Apart from the instrument panel, the BMW Live Cockpit Professional suite also includes a larger 10.25-inch, 1920x720 resolution infotainment screen. The infotainment now runs on the latest iDrive Operating System 7.0.
There's still no Android Auto though, only Apple CarPlay.
Speaker count remains unchanged at 6 (higher range 3 Series get 10 speakers).
Previously, the entry 320i made do with a smaller 8.8-inch, 1280x480 resolution screen.

BMW Malaysia says the company has delivered close to 2,000 units of the 320i Sport since it was launched on January 2020.
The upgraded features has also bumped up the price of the BMW 320i Sport by about RM 4k, to RM 243,883.65. The price is inclusive of Extended Warranty and Service Package, as well as SST exemption for locally-assembled passenger cars. The price is valid until 31-December 2021.
Powertrain remains unchanged - 184 PS and 300 Nm from the B48 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder, paired to an 8-speed automatic driving the rear wheels.
As before, the 320i is locally-assembled (CKD) in Kulim. Five colour options are available - Phytonic Blue, Black Sapphire, Alpine White, Mineral Grey and Sunset Orange, paired with premium Black Leather Vernasca upholstery.
