The common reaction after a person was robbed was to call the police, but this goldsmith shop owner did the complete opposite by chasing down the robbers in his Toyota Camry instead. The chase ended with the robbers’ Honda CR-V turning turtle.
In the incident that happened at around 10.15 am on 16-February-2022, after he was robbed at a petrol station, the Camry owner decided to chase down the group of five armed robbers who were driving a Perodua Myvi and a Honda CR-V.
According to a report by Harian Metro, all five robbers first escaped with three bags of jewellery, a handphone, cash, and personal documents of the 50-year-old victim.
However, although the chase ended with the CR-V turning turtle, all five robbers were able to escape capture. The initial police investigation found two parang knives, a set of walkie-talkies, and recovered two bags of jewellery in the SUV.
A quick check of the CR-V’s chassis number also revealed that it was stolen on 25-November-2021. The SUV was reported stolen from Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur.
Fortunately, the Camry owner sustained light injuries on his hand. Police are investigating the case under Section 294 of the Penal Code.
