Well, after much speculation, it appears that the all-new MQB-based Volkswagen Polo Mk6 isn’t destined for Malaysia after all.
This was confirmed by Erik Winter, Managing Director of VPCM during a press conference during the launch of the new 2021 Volkswagen Arteon R-Line facelift earlier today.
According to Mr Winter, VPCM is always on the look-out for suitable products to sell in this highly-competitive market. For the time being, he said that VPCM has no plans on introducing a B-segment hatchback in Malaysia.
Instead of the Polo, Mr Winter said that VPCM is looking to introduce one other model to expand the line-up in Malaysia. He added that the current trend are SUVs, hinting that the next model VPCM has in line will be an SUV.
While the Polo mk6 has been ruled out for Malaysia, at least we have a new SUV to look forward to. Between the Volkswagen T-Cross, T-Roc, and Touareg, which is your pick?
