Paint quality and finish are excellent with an average paint thickness of 118 μm. What is even more impressive is there is virtually no discrepancy in the fitting of the exterior panels. The maximum panel gaps difference between the left and right side of the car is a mere 0.5 mm.

Although our 1-year old test vehicle with 25,000 km of rough life started to show signs of wear but only if you scrutinise to look for them. The panels started to make a light squeak when pressed and the gear lever gates don’t feel as solid as new – presumably from the excessive use of the Tiptronic manual shifting function.
For its asking price of RM 123,000, the Proton X70 1.8 TDGI Premium 2WD is nothing short of impressive and is one of the best-built cars in the segment. Will the future Proton X70 CKD that will be built in Proton's Tanjong Malim plant be as well built? We believe our local talents are able to match this standard.
