Perhaps one of Malaysia’s most highly-anticipated models, the Proton X50, has been caught beside its larger sibling, the Proton X70, giving us a good look at how much smaller the X50 is.

Compared to the Proton X70 (4,519 mm x 1,831 mm x 1,694 mm), the Proton X50 is 4,330 mm long (189 mm shorter), 1,800 mm wide (31 mm narrower), and 1,609 mm tall (85 mm shorter). The Proton X50’s 2,600 mm wheelbase is also 70 mm shorter than the X70.

We’ve also compiled a table comparing the Proton X50 against its segment rivals, which gives you a better idea of the X50’s size.

Under the hood, the Proton X50 should be the most powerful one in its segment, thanks to its 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine that does 177 PS and 255 Nm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

No word on when Proton will introduce the X50 in Malaysia, but considering that Proton is vigorously testing the X50 across the country, we reckon it could be introduced later this year.
