35 photos to show off the 2024 Mitsubishi Triton's 'Beast Mode' style

Beast Mode is a description Mitsubishi decided to call the all-new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton which sits on an entirely new platform and is offered with only one 2.4-litre displacement with 3 different power outputs.

Indeed, the sixth-generation Triton appears muscular like it has lifted enough weights to pull off a muscular ā€œbroā€ look with a blockier design than the previous generationā€™s curvy design.

The Dynamic Shield front grille is also evolved over the ones weā€™ve seen on Mitsubishiā€™s other line-up which adds more macho-ness to the overall design. If looks could kill, maybe the Three Diamonds had done a good job.

Other improvements given to the all-new Tritonā€™s appearance are the rear spoiler, ā€˜more durableā€™ door handles, wider side steps, and better hood line visibility.

The all-new Triton is overall larger, wider, and longer than its predecessor with the biggest change in dimensions coming from the wheelbase which is now 130 mm longer. Still, not everything is increased in girth as the cargo bed height is now 45 mm lower than the last-gen Triton.

The Triton is being offered with three body types ā€“ a single cab, a club cab, and a double cab but out of the three designs, itā€™s likely that Malaysia would only get the double cab variants based on what is currently offered for the outgoing model.

While everything is emphasised on unleashing a beast in terms of exterior design, the interior is all about functionality and utility.

Soft pads are incorporated in the main areas that protect passengers to ensure utility while geometric shapes and metallic elements are incorporated to create a high-contrast, modern space.

Contrast is also applied for the visibility of the monitor, meters, and switches whereas the selectors, dials, and switches have an optimum level of sensitivity to allow them to be operated by gloves.

The centre console has cupholders that can accommodate 2 large cups while the console box can hold four 600 ml plastic bottles. Also enhancing practicality are the ample storage areas, USB A and C charging ports, as well as a wireless charger.

Sticking with the interior, the front seats of the all-new Triton provide firm lower back support while the hip point is moved 20 mm higher than the older model. Besides, the more vertical design of the A-pillars also helps to improve visibility when driving.

The ā€œBeast Modeā€ Triton is powered by a 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine. This engine is newly developed by Mitsubishi and is the only displacement being offered for now with three different outputs:

  • 204 PS, 470 Nm
  • 184 PS, 430 Nm
  • 150 PS, 330 Nm

All three engines are paired to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission with Sport mode. The manual gearbox has shift-by-wire that reduces vibration directly transmitted from the engine and improves comfort.

Easy Select 4WD shown

Four-wheel-drive (4WD) versions of the Triton are equipped with Super Select 4WD-II in double cab variants and Easy Select 4WD in single cab variants. Both versions are equipped with a Limited Slip Differential (LSD) that splits torque 40% to the front and 60% to the rear.

Super Select 4WD-II shown

There are now 7 drive modes for variants equipped with Super Select 4WD-II ā€“ Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock. Active Yaw Control (AYC) is also offered on variants with this system and if you know your Mitsubishi acronyms very well, AYC is derived from the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.

The all-new Triton retains a double wishbone suspension in front for reliability and durability while the rear suspension consists of a lighter leaf spring system with thicker shock absorbers.

As usual for modern new cars, the sixth-gen Triton is offered with the Diamond Sense ADAS suite which comprises:

  • Adaptive cruise control (ACC)
  • Forward collision mitigation (FCM)
  • Blind spot warning (BSW)
  • Lane change assist (LCA)
  • Rear cross traffic alert (RCTA)

In Thailand which is the debut market as well as the production base of the all-new Triton, only prices for the 184 PS variants have been announced which range from THB 699,000 to THB 1,027,000 (~RM 93k-136k).

As for Malaysia, the all-new Mitsubishi Triton is planned for its local debut in 2024. Do you like the beastly appearance of the all-new Triton?
