Malaysians love their Toyota Alphards and Vellfires. From MLM bros to businessmen and even regular families, these luxurious MPVs are everywhere in the country. Today, UMW Toyota Motor has officially begun taking orders for the all-new AH40 Toyota Alphard and Vellfire.
Estimated pricing for the Toyota Alphard is RM 538,000 while the Toyota Vellfire will be priced at RM 438,000.
Furthermore, this region is one of the biggest markets for the Alphard and Vellfire, so itβs logical for Toyota to bring them in quickly with an official launch by the year end.
Based on the TNGA-K platform, the 2023 AH40 Alphard and Vellfire have been designed to offer increased levels of luxury, improved drivability and newer powertrains that include hybrid and turbocharged options. The former is not available here.

The Malaysia market Toyota Alphard is powered by a T24A-FTS 2.4-litre, inline-4, turbocharged engine with Dual VVT-i. It makes 278 PS and 430 Nm of torque. The transmission of choice is a sole 8-speed automatic.
On the other hand, the Vellfire is powered by a 2AR-FE 2.5-litre Dual VVT-i naturally aspirated engine that pumps out 182 PS and 235 Nm of torque to the front wheels via a 7-speed CVT.
Interestingly, the powertrain options for Japan are reversed between the models. In Japan, the turbocharged engine is only offered to the Vellfire, which is priced much higher than the 2.5-litre naturally aspirated- or hybrid-only Alphard.

Additionally, to further enhance the Vellfire's sportier nature, it will be equipped with a front performance brace in the engine bay to tighten up handling. The Alphard will not have this brace.
From the photos online, the all-new Alphard will be keeping its iconic shield-like front grille. As for the Vellfire, it takes on a sportier appearance with chrome trims surrounding the bottom.
Just like how the Alphard retains the shield-like front grille, the all-new Vellfire also carries over the split headlights design from previous generations.
Moving on to the rear of the Vellfire, there are more distinguishable features compared to the Alphard, unlike previous generations that looked more similar. The taillights on the Vellfire appear sharper with a standard-looking layout and there are more chrome trims than the Alphard.
Weβre guessing Thailand will get its official launch earlier but the Malaysian one wonβt be too far behind. Given that both models are fully imported (CBU) from Japan, weβd place our bets on UMW Toyota Motor introducing the 2023 AH40 Toyota Alphard/Vellfire in Malaysia by end-2023 or early-2024.
