Making its highly-anticipated Malaysian debut, UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has announced prices for the all-new DNGA-based 2023 Toyota Vios (AC100). Locally-assembled (CKD) at the Assembly Services Sdn Bhd (ASSB) plant in Bukit Raja, Klang, two variants of the Vios are offered in Malaysia which are:
- 1.5 E – RM 89,600
- 1.5 G – RM 95,500
Order books for the all-new Vios were opened on 24-February 2023 and since then, more than 5,000 orders have been made.
Powering the two variants of the fourth-generation Vios is the naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre Dual-VVT-i 2NR-VE engine that produces a lower output figure than its predecessor, 106 PS (-1 PS) and 138 Nm (-2 Nm). The unit is paired with a new CVT gearbox with 7 virtual ratios that Toyota claims give quicker acceleration and enhance fuel efficiency.

The Toyota Safety Sense suite of ADAS comes standard on the Malaysian-spec Vios which consists of:
- Pre-Collision System (AEB)
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
- Lane Departure Prevention (LDP)
- Front Departure Alert
6 airbags, Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and a 3D panoramic view monitor (PVM) also come equipped as standard.
However, the 1.5G once again comes with more safety kit by adding Lane Keeping Control (LKC), Auto High Beam (AHB) and all-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). The latter does not come with stop-and-go capability (it comes to a complete stop, but doesn’t resume driving) which is par for the segment.
The all-new Vios is available in 5 colour options with Spicy Scarlet, the hero colour used in most of its promotional materials, being a new addition.
The 2023 Toyota Vios comes with a 5-year warranty and unlimited mileage. Owners will also enjoy 24SEVEN Road Assist and a free three-year subscription to the Toyota Vehicle Telematics System which monitors the car’s location at all times.
Additionally, UMWT will be offering exclusive test drive gifts at all showrooms nationwide from 24 to 26 March 2023. With more than half a million units sold in Malaysia since its introduction in 2003, will the all-new fourth-gen 2023 Toyota Vios maintain its popularity among buyers even with a higher price tag?
