In anticipation of its upcoming 2022 Mazda CX-60, Mazda dropped another teaser for its Japan- and Europe-bound large two-row SUV. Amidst the shadows in this new video, the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) CX-60 shows off what appears to be a reflective white paint.
Mazda is no stranger to mesmerising colours with Soul Red Crystal and Polymetal Grey being some of the most beautiful hues ever produced on a regular car. Leave it to Mazda then to make a colour as common as white to look so pretty.
But we can’t really judge the beauty of the pale hue in the CX-60’s latest teaser. The 2-row SUV which will sit slightly above the CX-5 is making its global debut 5 days from now on 8-March 2022.
The CX-60 will be the first of a few models Mazda has planned from their Large Product Group which also includes the CX-70, CX-80, and CX-90.
Of the 4 large SUV models planned, the even-numbered ones (CX-60, CX-80) will be available for the European and Japanese markets. Meanwhile, models bearing odd numbers (CX-70, CX-90) will be sold for the North American market.
In a bid to change the perception of crossovers and SUVs being too oversaturated in the market, Mazda will be mixing up some variety in its upcoming range of SUVs. Models under the Large Product Group will be offered with RWD which is coupled to a regular combustion 6-cylinder engine, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), or a 48-V mild-hybrid (MHEV) depending on the markets.
The CX-60, meanwhile, is confirmed to be powered by a PHEV system that comprises of a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine and a plug-in hybrid system that produces a combined output of over 300 PS.
Still, if you’re excited over the CX-60 as a potential enthusiast-driven crossover with its RWD layout, you need to wait for another 5 more days for more details. As for its Malaysian debut, we might have to wait and see since Mazda hasn’t ruled out other markets.
