- Priced from RM 199k
- Powered by 2.5L Dynamic Force engine with 8AT
- Now with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
It’s here - the 2022 Toyota Camry facelift is officially launched in Malaysia, priced at RM 199,109 (OTR without insurance, with SST discount). The pre-facelift Toyota Camry was priced at RM 188,763, this marks an increase of about RM 11k.
As before, the Toyota Camry comes fully-imported (CBU) from Thailand.
Exterior – Blink and you’ll miss the changes
The front bumper has been redesigned with slightly more prominent air intakes, while maintaining the horizontal slats.
Wheels are 18-inch alloys as before, albeit in a new dual-tone design, wrapped with 235/45 R18 Bridgestone Turanza T005A tyres.
Over to the rear, changes are even more subtle with a pair of darkened taillamps. Apart from that, it’s almost identical to the pre-facelift model.
Keyless entry access now extends to the front passenger door, compared to driver-side only from before, addressing one of our biggest complaints in the pre-facelift Camry.

Interior – Lexus-level feature
While exterior changes are best described as mild, Toyota has given the 2022 Toyota Camry facelift a new floating-style infotainment display. It’s a 9-inch unit that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
It also features 360-degree parking camera (Panoramic View Monitor, PVM). The pre-facelift Toyota Camry only had a reverse camera.
Other changes include a new silver trim pattern on the centre console and doors, selectable drive modes, and paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
Over to the rear, the 2022 Toyota Camry facelift features powered rear seats that can be reclined by up to 8 degrees via a control panel located in the centre armrest.
The control panel also allows adjustments on the air-conditioning, sun shade, and audio system. Speaking of audio system and air-conditioning, it gets a 9-speaker JBL system as before while the air-conditioning is upgraded to a 3-zone automatic climate control.
Powertrain – At last, the Dynamic Force is in the Camry
Possibly the most requested item – the 2.5-litre Dynamic Force engine (209 PS / 253 Nm) and 8-speed automatic transmission powertrain. It’s finally in the Malaysian-spec Toyota Camry and it makes more power than the Honda Accord's 1.5-litre turbocharged mill (201 PS vs 209 PS), though torque is slightly down compared to the Accord (260 Nm vs 253 Nm).
This replaces the decade-old 2.5-litre 2AR-FE petrol mill (185 PS / 235 Nm) and 6-speed automatic transmission combination in the pre-facelift Camry.
Advanced safety features – Now with all-speed ACC
As for advanced safety, the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) has been updated, namely:
- Dynamic Radar Cruise Control - All speeds (with Stop-and-Go)
- Pre Collision System - Pedestrian & Cyclist Detection (Vehicle only before)
- Lane Departure Alert & Lane Keeping Assist - Lane Tracing Assist
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert – Auto Brake
The 2022 Toyota Camry facelift comes with 5 colour options – Red Mica, Platinum White Pearl Mica (+RM 800), Silver Metallic, Graphite Metallic, and Burning Black CS GF (+RM 800).
As with all official Toyota models in Malaysia, the 2022 Toyota Camry is covered by a 5-year/unlimited mileage warranty.
