Regarded as one of the keys to Subaru's success, Subaru Outback marks its sixth generation since the first being introduced in 1994. In the 2020 version, Subaru Outback featuring 7 variant - Base, Premium, Limited, Touring, Onyx Edition XT, Limited XT and Touring XT trims. Counting in the destination fee, the top-spec Touring costs $37,345 (RM 156,710). The model also lists 50 optional parts, all of which will increase the price to $48,456 (RM 203,335).

A 2.4L turbocharged four-cylinder engine is adopted in the Touring trim level, which generates 260 hp (194 kW) and 376Nm of torque. The EPA also rates it 22 mpg in the city, 30 mpg highway and 26 mpg combined. Six colors are available in this spec: Autumn Green Metallic, Abyss Blue Pearl, Cinnamon Brown Pearl, Crystal Black Silica, Crystal White Pearl and Magnetite Gray Metallic. All these will be equipped with the leather interior trimming named Java Brown Napa.

The new Outback will be built on the Subaru Global Platform(SGP). According to the automaker, the new foundation can increase torsional rigidity up to 70%. It can also absorb 40% of the energy during a collision in front or from the side. In addition, Sparrow's Eyesights security system is the standard configuration for all variants, including adaptive cruise control.

Subaru also adds muffling function towards the engine sound to every new Outback, so owners who are vexed at the noisy engine sound can now enjoy a quieter driving experience.
