For its 2020 model year, Geely has streamlined the variants on sale – the company now offers just 4 variants of the Boyue in China, down from the massive 13 variants a few years prior.
Then there’s the Boyue Pro, a more sophisticated version of the regular Boyue.
The Boyue Pro is differentiated by new headlights and tail lights, more aggressive front and rear bumpers, and redesigned alloy wheels.
The interior of the Boyue Pro has also been improved upon – the dashboard design has been refreshed and selected variant can be fitted with dual 12.3-inch displays; one for the instrument cluster, the other for the infotainment system.
All Chinese variants of the updated Boyue and Boyue Pro are front-wheel drive, no AWD variants are available.
Closer to home, Proton is expected to introduce the locally-assembled X70 real soon.
Looking at the Boyue and Boyue Pro’s spec list, we believe some features, like the powered tailgate would be a welcomed addition.
The locally-assembled Proton X70 is also expected to ditch the 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission in favour of a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
However, the much-rumoured 1.5-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder engine won't be offered on sale in Malaysia, although the variants of the X70 with this engine will be produced in Tanjung Malim.
The 1.5-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder is destined for countries with strict carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions regulations, such as Australia, Singapore, and Thailand.
